The Lackawanna Bar Association, a professional membership organization, is active in community service and provides legal education for attorneys designed to improve the practice of law and promote the administration of justice. The LBA operates a legal referral service, publishes a weekly legal journal, and engages in other matters related to the practice of law.
The Lackawanna Bar Association, through the efforts of the Equal Access to Justice Committee, is conducting a Legal Services Needs Assessment. They have engaged the Institute for Public Policy and Economic Development to conduct the study. Data will include a study of persons and families in the area experiencing homelessness.
The Lackawanna Bar Association recognizes the hard work of the many organizations working to alleviate homelessness and to help the underserved in our community. This study will provide data for new innovative programs which will provide support for those individuals and families.
